Google News Reporting Method Changed On 9 December 2021

Google Algorithm Updates & Changes on rare occasions,  an event in Search Console can affect report data. For example, if we change our data aggregation methods or if a publishing error occurs, you may see a dip or bulge in the chart. This page logs known issues that may affect your data.

Image search data  is affected by a recording issue that may cause lower clicks and impressions for images on your site in the performance report.To resolve this issue. This issue is a recording issue only; it does not reflect a decline in  user behavior or Google search results.

Jan 15 (Search) 

The Page Experience report now includes desktop data in addition to mobile data (yay!So if you filter your search performance results to Good Page Experience, you might notice an increase in impressions with all that extra desktop data. on the research aspect of product results during this period. This is just a logging error, there was no drop in user behavior or Google search results.

December 9, 2021 (Google News) 

Google Algorithm Updates & Changes recently updated its registration system for Google News to make it more accurate. You may notice a reduction in the number of impressions for your site in the Google News performance report. These improvements are intended to ensure that you receive the most accurate impression report from Google News via the Search Console and do not reflect any changes in user behavior on the Google News app or news.google.

November 10 (Search) 

Due to a registration error, you may notice a decrease in  clicks and impressions for the Good Page Experience search appearance when the “News” search type filter is applied. reflects a change in user behavior or search results, just a change in Search Console registration.

June 29 – November 1 (Search) 

Search Console overcounted data for Page Experience search appearance data during this time. You should see the return to correct data on November 2. From

September 13 (Search).

To a record change, you may see an increase in clicks and impressions for the search aspect Good page experience for the “News” filter search type. This change does not reflect a change in the user behavior or search results, only a registration change from  Search Console.

August 23-24 (Search, Discover) 

An internal problem caused  data loss in research and discovery performance during this period.This is not a drop in actual impressions, just a more accurate calculation of image impressions when type=image is specified in the search performance report.

February 16 (Discover) 

Previously, if a viewer clicked on a Stories website on Discover,  continued in Additional Web Stories, only the first Web Story was credited with an impression and click. From this date, any additional web stories that have been reached since the first web story in Discover will also be credited with an impression and click in  report performance for Discover, so you may notice an increase in your Discover data.

October 28 (Discover) 

A previous issue where some Discover data was incorrectly classified as video in the performance report has been resolved. Because of this, you may see a drop in the Discover Report video appearance metrics. This misclassification did not affect the Discover results. for users, but only on data reports.

October 6 (Discover)

Following the launch of the Stories carousel feature on Discover, you might see a significant increase in Web Story stats on Discover reporting for your site. September 25-28 (Discover)

Web Stories were shown less often to Discover users during this period, so you will see a drop in impressions and clicks for this type in the Performance report for Discover.
